The Weekend Retreat hosted by AbilityMate powered by Enspiral is the very first of its kind in Sydney. We would like to invite you to join us for a weekend of connecting, reflecting and lots of fun - in true AbilityMate style, it’s a unique combination of work and play. Our first ever retreat aims to bring together our close community who have been involved in our work from the early days. AbilityMate has been on an epic journey since we started and we want to take this opportunity to connect and spend valuable time with you.
Located only 45 minutes away from the city, the retreat will be held at the beautiful and fully accessible Crusaders Conference Centre.

Who is Enspiral?
Enspiral is a virtual and physical network of companies and professionals brought together by a set of shared values and a passion for positive social impact. It’s sort of a “DIY” social enterprise support network. At its heart, it’s a group of people who want to co-create an encouraging, diverse community of people trying to make a difference. This retreat will be co-facilitated by 2 Enspiral members, Damian Sligo-Green and Silvia Zuur. To learn more about Damian and Silver check out their profiles here: https://enspiral.com/about-enspiral/people/
Why is the retreat powered by Enspiral?
AbilityMate is a proto-venture of Enspiral. We’ve been very inspired by the how Enspiral support people to work on stuff that maters. In Feb 2017 the AbilityMate gang attended a Enspiral retreat in Wellington NZ and we were really moved by the way the connected people. We all learnt so much from each other. At the end of the retreat we all left feeling very recharged and had a newly energised motivation to make an impact. Thats why we asked Enspiral to help us do the same for our community here in Australia
What time do I arrive and leave?
We encourage you to be at the venue by 5:30pm on Friday so you have time to register and settle down before we kick off the retreat. The retreat will wrap up right after lunch on Sunday at 1:30pm but don't let the socialisation stop there - whether you exchange details or connect with each other on social media, we always encourage our community to stay closely connected!
What will we be doing during the weekend?
Enspiral will be facilitating open space workshops. We’re all about human-centred design so you tell us what you would like to get out of the retreat and we can work together to create that experience. Head over to our ticket page for some ideas to get you started.
What are open space workshops?
Open space workshops are essentially hosted by anyone who wants to share their knowledge and experience on a particular topic. You don’t have to be an expert in a particular area to do this, everyone has something we can all learn from. It’s all about sharing what you know and learning from others at the same time to broaden your horizons
Is there going to be a party night?
Ofcourse! It’s AbilityMate’s tradition to make things fun and exciting - it’s not a retreat without a party on the last night!
What do I need to bring?
Please ensure you bring the following:
- Linen and/or sleeping bag
- Porta Cot (if you have a baby :)
- Comfortable clothes and shoes
- Your favourite outfit for the party night
