Only 1 out of 10 have access to thedevices they need.
That leaves 900 million people still looking for some assistance.

We believe every person with a disability should have access to the assistive devices they need.
That is why are creating open-source designs for the most-needed assistive devices. Once designed we setup hubs where these designs can be customised and 3D printed in your local area.

We are truly inspired by the innovation happening in the assistive technology fields, in Australia and around the world. People with disabilities and those around them are incredibly innovative, and we celebrate that!
We love working with forward-thinking organisations, and our team is incredibly humbled to be working with some of the best in Australia.
We co-create products with people with who have disabilities. Teams of industrial designers, carers, occupational therapists and users design customised solutions that are specific to each person's needs.
Our team of human centred designers are experienced and skilled in technologies such as 3D printing, crafting, electronics, and programming and know that no design decision should be made unless they have consulted the end user first.
Our designs are open-source and available for everyone to remix, tweak, and build upon even for commercial purposes, as long as you credit us and license your new creations under the identical terms. Don’t forget to share your learnings with us, because a global community of innovators are far more powerful than our R&D department alone!
Our works hold a Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence.
AbilityMate is not just a supplier of assistive technology or a mob of geeks 3D printing stuff; we advocate for a sustainable and ethical future that is informed and encouraged by the principles of the next industrial revolution. AbilityMate is catalysing a new economy and blurring the lines between designer, maker and consumer with people who have disabilities!
We are creating a global commons of open-source designs and setting up localised factories where these designs will be made. Since 2015 we have been adding to and refining our collection through make-athon events where our community have co-created dozens of products specific to a person's needs.
