Johan is a Disability Carer & Social Entrepreneur with a background in Electronic Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. Johan is passionate about innovation in the disability sector. He is leading the AbilityMate team in the areas of business development , strategy and eating cake!
Mel Fuller is an entrepreneur and advocate or a sustainable and ethical future that is informed and encouraged by the principles of the next industrial revolution. A catalysts for a new economy, her focus is on the intersection of design and manufacturing, and how that can create greater equality in society. Mel is motivated by solving global problems and wants to see every person with a disability gain access to the assistive devices they need.
Human Focused Designer
Kin Ly is an Industrial Designer that trained at the University of NSW. Kin’s interest for digital manufacturing grew from original learnings of traditional methods of manufacturing such as turning, milling etc. Kin believes in the potential of digital fabrication and therefore advocates for the ethical uptake of this technology.
Kin works very hard striving for a more equal society and has been volunteering for almost a decade with various organisations. Kin recently completed a human centred design course run by +Acumen & ideo.org, and like all of our facilitators he is passionate about supporting AbilityMate in creating better Assistive tech with end users.
Design & Communications
Ria Manchanda loves to explore using a variety of medium as her canvas. She strives to bring her passion for storytelling together with her business acumen and holistic design vision. She is fundamentally driven to design purposeful experiences with people and has a specific interest in healthcare and social impact.
Lead UX Designer
Mel Tran is studying a bachelor of digital media majoring in interaction design at Billy Blue. She was the first person with a disability in the world to finish gold, silver and bronze in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. She is a motivated advocate for disability rights and sits on the board of organisations such as Tri Community Exchange. One of Mel's proudest moments was speaking at the MCA for TedX Youth 2013.
Mel's has a neuro-muscular condition that has largely impacted her life. She aspire to be a great UX Designer and positively affect the lives of others!

Rick brings years (lots of years) of experience working with major aeronautical, automotive, locomotive and shipbuilding organisations. Rick is a CAD instructor, designer, engineer working for Invenio Pty Ltd.
Rick is new to the disability and social enterprise realms and is finding AbilityMate a unique and exciting environment to work in.
Regulatory Affairs and CAD Intern
Brodie is a current Sydney University student in his final year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) with a major in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. His contribution to the team has revolved around regulatory affairs, to ensure AbilityMate products are safe and clinically proven before being made available for commercialisation.
Human Focused Engineer
Ade (ah-dee) Ogunniyi graduated from MIT in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. She is a big advocate of the Maker movement and STEAM education. She has years of experience working at Makerspaces and has built up a wide variety of skills.
Ade's love for making was sparked by the Edgerton Outreach Centre at MIT where she discovered a natural gift for creating things and teaching people. She is at her happiest when given a really hard engineering or design problem to solve; particularly if the solution will help make someone's life better.
